Sergio & Luli Visit
|
|||
| In July Sergio and Luli flew up from Argentina for a three-week stay. They are both lawyers and the judicial system in Argentina takes two weeks off in July, which makes it perfect for them to be able to travel together. Dave and Dru's trip east overlapped a couple of days, so we all got to spend a little time together. | |||

Christmas 2007 |
|||
| Jeff & Mariana's first Christmas as a married couple was a big one. Both of their parents came to spend at least part of the holidays with them! First of all, Jeff's parents, Dave and Dru, flew in from California, spent a day, and then the four of them went down to Williamsburg for Christmas. Then Jeff & Mariana zipped back to D.C. to greet Mariana's parents, Angel and Gloria, who flew in from Argentina. Then Dave and Dru returned to D.C. for New Years weekend which included a get-together with Maryjo and Alan. Here are some photos of Christmas and New Years: | |||
![]() Jeff & Mariana's very first Christmas tree together. Very impressive! It included an assortment of ornaments that begins to form their own special Christmas collection. As you can see, there were lots of presents under the tree and huge stockings full of goodies! |
![]() Then it was off to Williamsburg where Jeff and Mariana actually found jolly ol' Santa Claus, who was out mingling with the crowds taking last-minute requests! |
||
![]() Shortly thereafter, Jeff and Mariana were promptly slapped into the stockade, no doubt for very good reasons. |
![]() Fortunately, after proper bail was posted, they were released so that they could tour the colonial city with Dru. |

One of Jeff's family's traditions is to serve enchilladas New Mexico style on Christmas Eve. They are served stacked. First, the enchilladas are quickly emmersed in hot oil and placed on the plate with sauce and cheese between each layer. Then, it's topped with an egg fried over easy along with a smothering of sauce and a light sprinkling of more cheese. Delicious! Here you see Jeff and Dru at work. (Mariana and Dave were watching from the safety of the dining area.) | ||
| Then it was back to D.C. for Jeff and Mariana so they could meet Mariana's parents, Angel and Gloria, who were arriving from Argentina. Dave and Dru joined them and Alan and Maryjo came over for a delightful evening followed by a wonderful meal at a favorite Italian restaurant. Here's the whole Washington family, posing for the phantom photographer who managed to get them all in the same photo. | |||

![]() New Year's weekend saw the culinary action continuing. Here's Angel slaving away over hot pots in the kitchen adding his special touch to the meal. |
![]() In the meantime, Jeff was outside grilling. Where was Dave when all of this was going on? There are advantages to being the photographer! |

| The photographer failed to capture the New Year's Day meal. That was Angel and Gloria's spectacular milanesa. That's thinly cut steak, seasoned and breaded, and then either fried or baked. Gloria served up two huge platters heaping with this unusual treat. ÁMuy rico! (Very tasty!) Dave and Dru even managed to slip away with some to nibble on during their trip back home. | |||
| Angel and Gloria's schedule permitted them to remain for another two weeks. Fortunately, Mariana was able to be with them most of the time, catching up and just enjoying their time together. Everyone had a great time. We all look forward to the next family gathering, whenever and wherever that might be. | |||
