Shanghai-2: To the WestShopping, Shopping, ShoppingWe stopped at the silk factory where they make a variety of silk products. They gave a fascinating demonstration as to how the silk strands were harvested, but, unfortunately, they would not allow taking pictures. |
Members of our tour group were invited to stretch the silk ball apart to help form a silk comforter

A finished, framed, woven silk painting. Again, we were not allowed to take photographs, but I couldn't resist sneaking in a hip shot. This particular picture is transparent, the same scene on each side, only reversed, of course. Some had different pictures on each side but they still had a transparency to them; I don't know how they did that.

A stunning display of silk rugs in the show room.

A colorful rendition
|
One needed to be discrete in taking photographs as this was an active temple with worshippers.
